WHY FOREIGN INVESTOR EYING MALAYSIA
Now, under the Prime Minister of Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, Malaysia is on the eye of investors. As an emerging Markets, Malaysia offer advantages as to compare to others Asian for investing such as:
  1. Malaysia is rich in educated human capital
  2. It is proven that the Malaysian banks was virtually unaffected by the global credit crisis last year since they are not involved heavily in derivatives and weathered the crisis easily.
  3. Malaysia implemented many regulations which prevented the reckless flow of capital into and out of the country. These regulations require that capital invested in Malaysia stay invested for some years before they can be taken out.
  4. As the world’s largest producer of palm oil, Malaysia has a leadership position in providing cheap edible oil to many developing countries. Palm oil is a cheaper substitute for vegetable or sunflower oil which are used in cooking. There are many huge palm oil plantations in Malaysia which benefited nicely last year when palm oil prices soared.
  5. Liberalization measures for potential sectors such as renewable energy, high technology manufacturing, etc.
  6. The financial sector follows the principles of Islamic finance and takes very low risks compared to conventional banking.
  7. Malaysia a Parliamentary democracy with a stable government in most years and political risk is low even though a rough new challenges from opposition leaders which bad mouthing the current government.
  8. Malaysia is also blessed with an abundance of forestry, fertile agricultural land minerals like copper, iron-ore, etc.
  9. Malaysia is net exporter of crude oil and natural gas.
  10. Malaysia is to excel in the agricultural and commodity sector and heavily encouraging the growth of tourism, healthcare and education sectors.
